Welcome to Important Occasions! This site is designed to display announcements of important life events placed by consumers through their local newspaper. 

To VIEW an announcement, you will need to click on the icon for the event (wedding, birth, etc.) and enter the person's last name.  You may also enter the state or newspaper to narrow the search should we return a long list of announcements under that particular last name.  You may click on the photo to see an enlarged version.

Once an announcement is displayed, you may SIGN THE GUEST BOOK.  When you finish entering your message, you may wish to click on spell check.  You will be asked to enter an email address but this is not required.  The email address is for the benefit of the announcing party so they may communicate back to you.  You are required to enter a first and last name so the announcing party knows who submitted the message.  There is a "bad word" filter that will remove profanity and replace those words with *** should you use any of these in your guest book message.

There are 3 other functions to access on this site.  You may VIEW A GUEST BOOK or VIEW A PHOTO GALLERY but must enter a PIN code provided by the announcing party.  If you just signed their guest book, you will need to wait until the announcing party reads your entry and emails the PIN code.  This area is not open to the public for privacy reasons.

To Place An Announcement on This Site, contact your local newspaper, ask for the Social Announcement desk, and inquire about www.importantoccasions.com.  You may also click the link at the bottom of the home page for a list of some of the newspapers participating in this site.
