Wayne Emigh celebrated his 90th birthday October 25.
Emigh has lived his entire life in Starke County. Emigh still lives on the farm where he grew up. In his younger years Emigh raised honeybees, gladiolus, operated a farrow to finish swine operation and a beef cattle herd.
He served in World War II in the signal corp. He belongs to the Hamlet American Legion Post in Hamlet. He was as a founding member on the board of directors for Starke County Soil and Water Conservation District. He has given of his time assisting youth though 65 years as a 4-H leader and has served on numerous other boards in Starke Co. and statewide.
Emigh is married to Joann Cappis. He has three daughters: Beverly (Bud) Albright, Shirley (Jeff) Fosler, and Dolores (the late Jim) Surfus, all of Knox.
He also has eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A birthday celebration with his family was held on his birthday at the family farm. His brother Kent from California was able to come as a surprise guest for the birthday celebration.
