Mr. & Mrs. Robert Sigler
70th Anniversary

Robert Earnest Sigler and Johnnie Muriel Marshell were married in Cleveland, Tx on October 31, 1942. Yes, it was Halloween night. They actually interrupted a Halloween party at the Methodist Church in Cleveland, so the pastor could perform the short marriage ceremony. Legend has it that the pastor complied then went back to the party. Robert and Muriel then went on their honeymoon to the movies in Cleveland that cost them a whopping 10 cents each. Robert then shipped out to serve his country in World War II. Muriel remained in Cleveland and worked at her mother's restaurant until Robert returned from the war in 1945. They have lived their entire married lives in Cleveland. Both worked and retired from the US Postal service. Dad also spent many years as a volunteer firefighter. They are members of First Baptist Church and have worshiped there for over 65 years, serving in many capacities through the years. They raised 5 children in Cleveland and have 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. These 70 years have been a journey of grace, love, and commitment and we rejoice in the wonderful example of their lives together.
