Thompson - Friedman
Anne-Marie Thompson and Nicholas Adam Friedman were united in holy matrimony on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at four o'clock in the afternoon at First Presbyterian Church in Fulton, Missouri. The Reverend Aaron J. White officiated the ceremony before an altar softly illuminated by ivory pillar candles among garlands of greenery and baby's breath. Wreaths and pew markers of baby's breath and greenery, and additional clusters of candles ornamented the historic sanctuary. Classical music was provided by Dr. Rochelle Parker, organist; soloist Robert Battle of Columbia, MO; and soloist MaryAnn Friedman, aunt of the groom, from Niceville, FL. Jeannine Friedman, sister in law of the groom, read selections from scripture and poetry.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Benjamin Thompson, Jr. of Conroe, TX, and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Emmett
Musselman II, also of Conroe. The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Tate Friedman of Syracuse, NY, and the great-nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Hecht of New York, NY.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an exquisite gown of Parisian champagne silk chiffon over café matte-side luster satin. Re-embroidered ivory alencon lace, hand appliquéd over ivory chantilly lace, covered the fitted gown which flowed into a gently gathered skirt and semi-cathedral train. A sweetheart neckline and dramatic vee back, and veil of ivory silk illusion edged in lace and seed pearls completed her ensemble. The bride carried a cascading bouquet of pale yellow, blush and ivory roses among variegated greenery.
Robin Tung of Los Angeles, CA, and Pamela Kirkpatrick Frye of West Hartford, CT, served as maid and matron of honor, respectively. Aileen McDermott Roberts of Houston, TX; Christina Ingoglia of Columbia, MO; and Grace Rabuck Willburn of Colorado Springs, CO, served as bridesmaids. The attendants were gowned alike in sleeveless, champagne silk chiffon featuring V front and back ruched bodices with cummerbunds, and floor length A-line skirts with front and back pleats. Each carried a smaller hand-tied version of the bride's bouquet.
Steven Friedman of Syracuse, NY, served as his brother's best man.
Groomsmen included Dr. Daniel Friedman, brother of the groom, of Durham, NC; Dr. Michael Shewmaker of Menlo Park, CA; Dr. Rory Waterman of Nottingham, United Kingdom; and William Thompson III, brother of the bride, of Galveston, TX. Members of the house party included Jessica and Emily Friedman, cousins of the groom from Glenwood, MD; and Emily Shewmaker, of Menlo Park.
Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a dinner and reception in the Kimball Ballroom at Stephens College in Columbia, MO. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner in Columbia at The Broadway Brewery. Conroe celebrations honoring the couple included an engagement party hosted by the bride's grandparents at Walden Yacht Club, and a luncheon given by the bride's cousins Mary Ann Metcalf, Diane Madeley, and Margaret Madeley at Brennan's. Bridal luncheons and showers hosted by Kay Dunn and by Betzy Rabuck, Doris Sims, Courtney Sims, Stacey Cutbirth, Becky Brown, Jaymie Pedigo and Laurie Reeves were attended by family and close friends of the bride.
Friends and relatives from across the United States and the United Kingdom honored the couple at the joyous event. Conroe guests attending the wedding included Glenn and Joyce Musselman, Dan and Robbie Love, Tommy and Mary Ann Metcalf, Albert and Diane Madeley, Margaret Madeley, Jim and Colleen Duhon, Becky Brown, Jay and Doris Sims, Bob and Betzy Rabuck, John and Carol Hicks, Wendy Hicks, Kay Dunn and Richard Leofsky, and Carl and Amber Adams. Courtney Sims and Jaymie Pedigo, both formerly of Conroe, also attended.
The bride graduated valedictorian from Conroe High School and summa cum laude from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance. She received her Master of Fine Arts degree in Poetry from Johns Hopkins University. The groom graduated summa cum laude from SUNY Geneseo with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. He received his Master of Fine Arts degree in Poetry from Cornell University, and a Wallace Stegner Fellowship in Poetry at Stanford University. Following an extended wedding trip to Montepulciano, Italy, Mr. and Mrs. Friedman will reside in the San Francisco Bay Area where she is a technical writer for MDX Software and he is a Jones Lecturer in Poetry at Stanford University.
